Established in 1966, Sekonda is a British designer watch whose story began in the Soviet Union where they were first produced in Moscow’s First State Watch Factor and Leningrad (Saint Petersburg) in the Petrodvorets Watch Factory. Unbeknown to most, the first Sekonda watches that were marketed in Britain were Russian made watches that had slipped through the “Iron Curtain” and been rebadged with the Sekonda logo. Sekonda continued producing their watches in Russia until 1993 where they began to be produced in Hong Kong in response to the rise in prominence of Japanese made movements.

Since its inception Sekonda has enjoyed a reputation for producing high quality watches that exceeded their price points. This ethos was relayed by the brand during their marketing campaigns in the 1980s and 1990s, as they used the slogan: ‘High quality, desirable watches, and affordable prices’. Until 2004 the Sekonda mainly catered for men’s watches, until the Seksy line was born which specialised in the production of ladies watches. In 2013, the brand ventured out into a more fashion-orientated market through the creation of the fashion-led collection - Sekonda Editions. Today, Sekonda offers a wide collection of innovative designs using high quality movements and materials to create durable and stylish timepieces.
