The history of the mesh style of bracelet can be traced by to the 13th century, when it was first produced as a form of armour in Milan. It is favourable because it is more robust than standard watch bands because it had no pins between its links and intertwined loops of its mesh made from stainless steel. However, a loss of comfort does not come at the cost of such peerless levels of robustness, as the design still allows the watch to sit comfortably on the wrist. It fastens using a deployment clasp.
